The Manager's Stance on The Scottish Club

The Ipswich boss referred to the Glasgow giants as "an enormous football club" but emphasized he is "in the middle" of a "extensive rebuilding" with Ipswich Town.

The 39-year-old took charge of Portman Road in 2021 and guided the team to the Premier League with consecutive elevations, but they won just a handful of victories last campaign as they were relegated back to the second division and they presently occupy twelfth place in the Championship.

"There have been such discussions," the English capital native ex- Northern Ireland young player said when asked about being on Celtic's shortlist.

"This isn't a matter I have considered seriously, or where any portion of my concentration is this week.

"I possess a special job here at a special team. And we're at a crucial phase of the campaign. Everything outside of that hasn't touched my awareness."

Context and Agreement Details

It has been suggested that the manager would be willing to talk to the Scottish side given his boyhood allegiances.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about those. "I don't think everyone has to go around and announce what they used to be, but naturally it's a massive sports organization."

McKenna signed a new four-year contract in 2024 and was asked about his alleged £5m release clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are things," he replied. "I'm unaware what mine are and, if I did, I wouldn't tell you regardless!

"I tackle this role like I'll be Town's coach indefinitely. I understand that's not always going to be the case, but I'll always give maximum effort as while I am here."

The Welsh Coach's Situation

Bellamy played for the Hoops on loan from Newcastle United in 2005, but the ex- Welsh striker is minded to complete the current World Cup campaign, a stance that would effectively rule out the 46-year-old from assuming the Glasgow position.

The Welsh squad are presently in third place in their qualifying group behind leaders the Red Devils and second-placed Macedonia.

Wins over Liechtenstein and North Macedonia in November would secure their position in the qualification play-offs, but they are all but assured of making those, thanks to a productive European competition campaign, should they not end up Group J runners-up.

Given his current stance, the Wales manager, whose contract concludes after the European Championship, would be unavailable until after the qualifying matches at the minimum.
