Triple award winner Jokic endures a 'devastating' leg setback.
Triple NBA MVP Jokic sustained a "heartbreaking" knee injury when the Nuggets fell by a score of 147-123 against the Heat.
The star player sustained the injury towards the end of the second quarter in an accidental contact with team-mate Spencer Jones.
His teammate stepped on the foot of the big man, and he promptly went down to the court grabbing his knee.
The veteran player, who tops the league this season in rebounds and dimes, had a score of 21 points and eight dimes in the game prior to sustaining the injury.
He is scheduled for an MRI scan on the following day to determine the severity of the injury.
"Instantly, he knew something was wrong," commented Denver head coach David Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Any player who gets hurt, that's difficult, particularly a player as talented as him. We will know more tomorrow."
"We'll move on together. Of course, currently, I'm focused primarily about Jokic as a person and the frustration of experiencing a situation like that."
