People have come together around the country to commemorate two years since the Hamas-initiated assault on 7 October 2023, as negotiations continued in Egypt over a conclusion to the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

The incident led to over 1,200 people losing their lives and 251 others captured back to Gaza as hostages. It was the most most lethal day for Jews since the Second World War.

Israel reacted by launching a defensive operation in Gaza which has taken more than 67,000 people, based on figures from the area's Hamas-administered health ministry. Its numbers are considered trustworthy by the UN and other global organizations.

"Our aggressive enemies have hit us hard, but they have not overcome us," the prime minister stated on that day.

He also vowed to "realize all the aims of the war: the release of all the kidnapped, the elimination of the Hamas regime and the assurance that Gaza will not create a danger to Israel".

Commemorative Events Across Israel

The government authorities delayed formal remembrance events until mid-October - after the conclusion of the religious holiday season - but gatherings still occurred around the country on Tuesday.

A commemorative event for the loved ones of people killed in the Hamas incident was held in the coastal city. Put together by the victims' relatives, it was televised throughout Israeli television channels.

A period earlier, a silent tribute was respected around the country.

Peace Discussions in Egypt

Simultaneously, both sides' representatives gathered in the North African tourist destination of the Egyptian city for a second day of mediated discussions to review the terms of the proposal.

A high-ranking delegate familiar with the discussions indicated that an night meeting of mediated discussions began at 7 PM local time.

The representative stated the day's discussions ended without tangible results, due to conflicting views over the recommended Israeli withdrawal maps from Gaza and over assurances Hamas seeks to guarantee Israel does not recommence combat after the opening period of the agreement.

He added that the talks are "difficult and have yet to achieve any real breakthrough," but noted that facilitators are making efforts to close the disparities between the conflicting groups.

Essential Issues in Talks

  • A lasting halt to fighting
  • The exchange of the hostages still detained by Hamas for detainees from Gaza
  • The removal of Israeli forces from Gaza
  • Arrangements for relief supplies deliveries
  • Post-war governance of the region

Civilian Feeling

In Tel Aviv's public square earlier, 29-year-old a woman - whose family member survived the attack on the Nova music festival, where many attendees were murdered and dozens more were captured by Hamas gunmen - told: "No place feels like home anymore and until each abducted person return none of us will feel safe."

"When we see everybody home again, we can relax anew. Then we can begin to rebuild," she continued.

Near the prime minister's residence in the capital, people assembled to show their solidarity for the loved ones of the hostages. Israel states nearly fifty stay in detention in Gaza, approximately twenty of whom are thought to be living.

Demonstrator a participant stated: "It's necessary do whatever arrangement needed for the abducted to be released. But we sincerely need promises that we will be secure."

Research now frequently demonstrate that around seventy percent of the population prefer the hostilities to finish in return for the freedom of the abducted.

Palestinian Situation

At the area of the music event, mourners gathered to honor the dead.

From that location, the sound of military attacks and shelling could be noticed just a short distance away in Gaza, where local people reported the heavy Israeli shelling continued.

In the urban center, bombardments were reported in the dawn of that day in the western Tal al-Hawa, area and zone neighbourhoods and in the eastern neighbourhood of that sector, as well the settlement to the north-west.

"As the evening falls, the fear appears with it," evacuated Gaza City resident a mother, whose young son was lost his life by an Israeli aerial attack last year, explained.

"Me and my three children are fearful of the air strikes. During nighttime we are resting together, embracing, particularly my youngest child who rests his head on me all night."

"Every second we check the updates to see the situation. And I'm afraid that this ceasefire will not be achieved and that the conflict will come back to us."

Humanitarian Situation

The medical facility in Gaza City said it had accepted the bodies of half dozen people by the midday, including a trio killed in an Israeli attack in the southern al-Sabra neighbourhood.

Nasser hospital in the south region of that area reported two more fatalities had been delivered. One of them was died by Israeli soldiers while looking for assistance to the southern area, health workers said.

Gaza's health ministry said twenty-five of the {territ
