The former Liverpool manager says coming back to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, remarked that a future comeback is a possibility. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure featuring Champions League success and the Reds’ first league title for three decades, has since taken on positions as head of global soccer for Red Bull and providing guidance for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

They secured the league title in the previous campaign, though countless followers holding him in high esteem would welcome the notion of his potential comeback. In a wide-ranging interview, he explained to the podcast host: “I declared I won't manage another team on English soil. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...absolutely. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, which suggests I might decide later on, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I'll wait and observe what lies ahead.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

When asked about the specific conditions would need to occur to bring him back to the dugout, he revealed he isn't eager toward coming back. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he said. “No longing for management; I avoid standing in the rain through long matches; No need for interviews four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews a week.

“No nostalgia for the changing area per se, however, dining out with the players having a nice chat, is pleasant. Success was frequent so there was often great spirits at the club. Remaining with me is Van Dijk's laughter ringing in my ears to illustrate.”

Praise for His Successor

He spoke highly of the current boss, acknowledging his role for the tweaks that won the league in the previous season. The team has suffered a string of losses in all competitions following significant transfers, yet he dismissed the suggestion of it representing a decline.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker such as Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if you use the wrong words. He’s an incredible talent. [Hugo] Ekitike, superb talent. This is a well-built balanced team. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, they'll bounce back.”

Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward

The manager expressed deep feeling regarding the passing of Jota, whom he brought in in 2020, along with the consequences on Liverpool. The forward died tragically in a car crash alongside his brother this past summer.

“How do you replace such an individual? This isn't just regarding the player himself, his personality mattered. It's hard to picture the team environment absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. It was an incredible shock for the entire squad as well. Nobody at Liverpool would cite it as an excuse yet it's the reality. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Dealing with that on a personal level is not easy. Impossible.”
