Supporters Urge Custody of Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate supporters of the pop star are calling for that a person who leaped a fence and grabbed the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or expelled from Singapore.
A viral clip shows the individual from Australia bypassing media personnel and charging at Grande while the cast made its way down a event pathway accompanied by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the premiere by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "free after being detained", though legal records revealed that he was due to be present on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
Pattern of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram feed features clips of him disturbing other celebrity events, including rushing the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the city last December.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," wrote an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user wrote.
Fans Show Disapproval Over the Star's Well-being
Numerous fans accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist explosion at the end of her 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and wounding many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said another message on Instagram.
Several attendees also questioned event staff at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while others called for digital services to block Mr Wen's videos.
Response and Premiere Information
In footage shared widely, Grande looked startled when she was touched by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the premiere activities proceeded as normal.
Numerous of fans had congregated in a sea of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore mall, including some who had queued for as long as many hours before it began.
The motion picture, to be premiered on 21 November, is the sequel of a two-part adaptation of the popular stage production Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected relationship between two very different characters.
The production itself is a derivative of the 1900 story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was dressed in a rosé sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress featuring roses.
They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and received a dozen Academy Award nods, winning several for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
