Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for concerns to be asked about his position after a further convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the team's poorest streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got plenty of backing from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points naturally but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I sense the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period of this nature with results like these.”

Jones finished, “But we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
