A Pig's Tale: Pig Named 6-7 Spared by Miami Dade County Leader.

It might not have been at the identical stature as sparing holiday birds, but the county's top official conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. Clemency is justified for her. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued since the onset of a current administration.

“If we disregard eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “May this pig enjoy a long and happy life without fear.”

The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was founded to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The animal, provided by a first responder, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “6-7” – deriving from a musical verse – often seemingly at random. The phrase became so pervasive that a leading lexicon site recently declared “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

This particular pig is now destined to live out its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The pig pardon has become a cherished method to open the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, in a notably cheerful message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: happy, diverse, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Each year, we are honored to observe tradition and kindness in a way unique to Miami.”

Guests enjoyed a meat-free selection of croquettes and cafecito as they marked the swine's new lease on life.
